SteamRail Victoria Inc (Newport, Melbourne)
A non profit volunteer group which is dedicated to the restoration and operation of historic locomotives and rolling stock. Still runs (often restored) main line steam trains all over Victoria, Australia. They have been involved in restoration and operation for over 30 years, moving from organising tours and helping prepare the locomotives and carriages to becoming a self supporting organisation responsible for all restoration, maintenance and operation of a large fleet of locomotives and vehicles.

Melbourne Tram Car Preservation Society Haddon (west of Ballarat) - Maintains a small collection of Victorian trams. and includes a fully restored Victorian Railways tram No 41.
Mornington Railway Preservation Society The Mornington Railway was formed in 1984 to restore and operate the Baxter - Mornington line as a tourist railway. Trains now run between Moorooduc Station and the new Mornington Station. A courtesy bus runs between Mornington Station and the Mornington township.
Portland Cable Trams Portland Cable Trams operates diesel powered cable trams which run every day between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm past various tourist attractions in and around Portland (Vic).
Puffing Billy Railway Belgrave to Gembrook (Dandenong Ranges Vic) - The 24km line is the only surviving example of the four 762mm (2ft-6in) gauge lines built in Victoria at around the turn of the century. Managed by the Puffing Billy Preservation Society.
Redcliffs Historical Steam Railway Redcliffs (south of Mildura Vic) - Operating the restored Kerr Stuart 0-4-2T steam locomotive (B/N 742/1901) that formerly operated between Red Cliffs railway station and the Red Cliffs pumping station. A 2km section of the former 1600mm gauge Red Cliffs - Morkalla branch line has been converted to 610mm gauge for tourist train operation.
Seven O Seven Operations Newport, Melbourne - Starting in the early 1980's by a group of VR (Vic Rail) drivers with the support of the then engine drivers union (AFULE), 707 operations inc. was originally launched under the name of Plan R. The group's aim was to restore R707 to full running order. Now completed the group operates under the name Seven-O-Seven Operations INC and also operating Y126 and F317.
Seymour Railway Heritage Centre Seymour (Vic) - Established in 1983 as the Seymour Loco Steam Preservation Group to restore and operate Steam Locomotive J515. Offering only limited vistor facilities, the Depot is primarily a work area. However, visits by interested people are always welcome, and inspections by schools and special interest groups can be accommodated by prior arrangement. The depot is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and most weekends.
South Gippsland Tourist Railway Korumburra to Leongatha - The South Gippsland Railway operates 40km of rural railway between Nyora and Leongatha serving the towns of Leongatha, Korumburra, Loch and Nyora. The SGR provides diesel services on the former VR mainline. The line is the steepest mainline in Victoria as it traverses the Strezelecki Ranges. The railway is fully accredited and is operated predominantly by volunteers
The Bendigo Trust Electric Tramway at Bendigo (Vic) operated by the Bendigo Trust. Other attractions include the Central Deborah Mine and the Talking Trams.
Tramway Museum Society of Victoria Electric Tramway at  Bylands near Kilmore (Vic) - The Tramway Museum Society of Victoria displays and operates historical trams from Melbourne's Cable Trams through to the latest "Z" class trams (trams run every Sunday between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm).
Victorian Goldfields Railway Castlemaine to Maldon - The Victorian Goldfields Railway is a steam tourist railway linking the historic towns of Castlemaine and Maldon. Trains run on every Wednesday , Saturday, Sunday and on Public Holidays
Walhalla Goldfields Railway Thomson to Walhalla - Closed over 40 years ago, the Moe to Walhalla railway languished in obscurity and neglect, though rightly considered a masterpiece of railway engineering. The most spectacular section of the railway clings to a narrow ledge blasted along the southern side of Stringers Creek Gorge from the Thomson River to Walhalla. This section of track has now been reconstructed by the non-profit organisation, the Walhalla Goldfields Railway. The group now plans to rebuild the line back to Erica.

Trains operate on each Wednesday and every Saturday , Sunday, and public holidays. Trains originate and terminate at Walhalla, with the first train departing from Walhalla at 11.00am.
Yarra Valley Tourist Railway Healesville to Yarra Glen - The society holds an order-in-council to restore and operate the Yarra Glen-Healesville portion of the former Vic Rail line as a Tourist railway. Operations are based at Healesville Railway Station, which is on the Historic Buildings Register.
